Mortgage rates near 7.5%, rises for seventh consecutive week

Seeking Alpha reports: Mortgage rates rose for the seventh straight week, approaching 7.5%, according to the Freddie Mac Weekly Mortgage Applications Survey. 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 7.40% as of October 8, up from 7.28% last week and 6.30% in the same period a year ago. 15-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.73%, up from 6.60% a week ago and 5.53% in the year ago.
