I purchased the ETF VANG FTSE AW USDD (Ticker: VWRL-EBS, Stock - CH) through Interactive Brokers UK. Recently, I received dividend payments, but to my surprise, they were paid in CHF, even though the ETF is denominated in USD. Could this be due to currency conversion by Interactive Brokers, the exchange, or some other party? If so, how can I determine the cost of this conversion to me? And where can I find more detailed information on any associated currency conversion fees? I have already reviewed Interactive Brokers' pricing list , but I wasn't able to find specific details regarding the currency conversion fees for dividends.

The ETF is listed on multiple exchanges in USD, GBP, CHF, and EUR. The exchange matches buy/sell orders based on the listed price (CHF in this case) but isn't responsible for distributing dividends. Dividends are distributed in USD – presumably your broker converts them to the trading currency (i.e. CHF) at the prevailing spot FX rate . You can compare the CHF amount you received to the official USD amount to get a sense of the FX rate, or you can ask your broker to be sure. That said, if you don't want to transact in CHF, just buy the equivalent ETF in your preferred currency.
