My name is Brian David. I’m looking to see if I can recover a crypto account or a bitcoin account that I started roughly 8 years ago that that’s in my name.

If your coins were on an exchange (Coinbase, Blockchain.com, Kraken and the like), that really is an account in your name. Go to that exchange, use the email you signed up with, reset the password, and pass their ID check. Their support can walk you through it. But first start by searching your old email for words like "Coinbase", "Kraken", "Blockchain", "deposit", "verify your account" or "bitcoin", since that usually tells you which exchange you used.
If instead you had a wallet app or a device, there is no name attached to it at all. A self-custody wallet is opened only by its keys, so recovery depends on finding one of these:
a recovery phrase, 12 or 24 words written on paper (maybe in your safe or password manager)
a wallet backup file (names like wallet.dat, .wallet, or wallet.aes.json)
a private key you exported
the old phone, laptop or hard drive the wallet lived on
Check old email (people often mail themselves the words or a backup), any password manager, USB sticks and old drives, cloud storage from back then, and paper in a drawer or a safe. The bitcoin-cash tag is possibly a clue for you: 8 years ago lines up with the 2017 split, so a wallet you set up for bitcoin may hold bitcoin cash as well once you get back in.
If none of that exists, if the words were never written down and the file and device are long gone, there is nothing left to rebuild the wallet from, and no service or company can recover it by your name. Say what you manage to find and people here can point you to the next step.
One warning. A question like this attracts people who will message you privately promising to "recover" it. Ignore them. No honest helper sends you a DM first, and nobody legitimate needs your recovery words or password.

Before attempting any recovery, the most useful next step is to identify exactly what still exists from that time.
For example:
Do you still have the old computer, phone, hard drive or USB device?
Do you remember the name of the exchange or wallet software?
Do you have any old wallet backup files?
Do you have any Bitcoin addresses or transaction IDs?
Do you still have access to the email address you were using at the time?
If you still have the original computer or drive, avoid reinstalling the operating system, formatting the drive, or repeatedly modifying it until you know whether wallet data may still be present.
Also, do not post any seed phrase, private key, wallet password or wallet backup file publicly.
If you can update your question with what you still have — without including any secrets — it should be possible to determine whether this is an exchange-account recovery issue or a self-custody wallet recovery case, and what the appropriate next step would be.
